Simulation durations
In a plan
Section titled “In a plan”When a schedule is planned, a device operation does not run. Revolution waits for its simulation duration instead, taken from, in order:
- The step’s own Simulation Duration value. A new device operation step starts at 10 seconds.
- If the step’s value is 0, the device’s duration for that operation, from its configuration or driver.
- If the device sets none, one second.
Set realistic durations on the long steps, such as reader and liquid handler methods, so plans show a realistic makespan.
In a simulated run
Section titled “In a simulated run”In a simulated run, the device’s driver decides how long each operation takes. A driver can use the step’s Simulation Duration, or time the operation another way, for example from the operation’s own settings.
Transfers
Section titled “Transfers”Some robot drivers estimate transfer times from the move itself, for example the PF400 NG devices, so those transfers do not need a duration.
